Aurora
Aurora Aksnes, born June 15th, 1996 in Stavanger and known professionally as Aurora sometimes stylized in uppercase as AURORA is an Norwegian musician and singer. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves has been released by Decca Records and was well received by music blogs. Half the World Away from Oasis was released by the group Oasis was recorded to accompany an ad campaign for John Lewis, and Nature Boy is the Nat King Cole cover. Katy Perry, who endorsed the song Runaway with her voice, gave the song a boost of recognition. It was her birthday. Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memories involve finding a piano hidden in the attic of her home, and becoming fascinated with its sounds. Jan Oystein Aksnes was her father. They encouraged her not to pursue music solely for fun or for the sake of development but instead, she should explore it. To achieve this she wrote her first new compositions. Bjork as well as Leonard Cohen are among her favorite composers. To counter her mother's suggestion that her children shouldn't be trying to become famous with their songwriting skills, she instead realize the importance of themselves and the impact they have on society. The mother of her child suggested that she perform her songs publicly to help people realize the importance of their work and how they impact the world. It wasn't until her 14th birthday when she shared her story with her parents. The dream was never to turn into Aurora. The singer says that she simply likes to compose songs. She believes that music can help anyone feel better.
